Spurs and Everton crash out in dramatic style

It was a dramatic night for English fans, as Spurs and Everton both crashed out of the Uefa out on penalties.

Everton put on a brave display, starting the match against Fiorentina two goals down after their first leg 2-0 disappointment in Florence. Spurs also came from behind due to a 1-0 loss in Eindhoven.

Dimitar Berbatov secured extra time for Spurs with a sublime second half volley after Pascal Chimbonda whipped in a pin point cross.

Over in Everton, England forward Andrew Johnson bundled in an early goal and Mikel Arteta’s 67th minute strike bought the game back to level pegging. Despite Everton dominating the game, they were unable to add a third and the game went into penalties.

Yakubu and Phil Jagielka both missed from the spot in the shootout as Fiorentina hit the target on every attempt, meaning that Everton lost 4-2 on penalties.

As for Tottenham, Jermain Jenas had the opportunity to Win the match for Spurs, but his bellow par penalty was easily saved by PSV keeper Gomes.

All in all, a night that most English fans will want to forget in a hurry.
