Demand to end the Annual Cull saves seal pups
The pressure of many local celebrities halt this year’s annual cull of baby seals slaughtered in the White Sea of Archangel, Russia. The blood of thousands of cubs stain the white coast, increasing the demand from many locals in the Northern region of Russia to put an end to this cruelty. The scheduled cull for March has also been warned by nature itself, as Russian environmentalists report that the ice floors were unsafe to walk on due to the climate conditions. Officials of Archangel insisted that it was for the protection of the hunters, and not the seals. Although the sport for hunting has been a strong tradition in Russia, locals protest of the fact that many seals just a few months old have suffered for the human benefit of their white fur. Viktor Gusev, a sports commentator reports that there is a need for a serious draft law to put an end to the killings. But a spokeswoman for the Governor of Archangel say that the regional administration was seeking to end the cull and to work on legislation to ban this trade. A petition has been signed by around 335,000 people to try and bring forth animal rights.

Final Potter Film Split in Half
The 7th and final Harry Potter movie will be split into two separate parts, Producer David Heyman has said that it would be impossible to fit the whole of the deathly hallows into a single movie unless they deleted some key Scenes. Fans have told the makers that some elements of the books were not put in the films, such as the Quidditch matches. Daniel Radcliffe has said that splitting the films is the only sensible option. The 5 films have made over £2.2 billion meaning that it’s the biggest box office amount ever raised, beating the 6 star wars films and the James Bond films. The strategy of splitting the film will increase profits and keep the watchers tense. The first instalment of the final film will be released in November 2010, yet the more recent Half Blood Price will be released on the 21st November, 2008.

Darling And His Red Box Of Plans
Yesterday the chancellor Alistair Darling drew up
plans to help the struggling British economy as well as helping the environment.
The chancellor yesterday claimed to be helping families in difficult positions as well as pensioners and large families.
Darling’s main idea was to raise taxes such as high polluting cars, alcohol and
Darling and his “Red Box”Cigarettes. He also said that new tests where going to be carried out on incapacity benefit claims.
Although many people have accepted his new budget, there are still some contradicting arguments. Darling also said that with his new budget he can help the UK’s economy through this turbulent time.
One of the main arguments against the budget is the fact that Alistair could be targeting families. Family cars enable larger families to transport all their family within one car; however Darlings bid raises the taxes on 4x4’s as well as family cars. In other words he is penalising families for having too many children.
Other people that will be affected by the budget include smokers, drinkers and other 4x4 or gas guzzling drivers.
